Why did you or your organization decide to serve individuals with Mental Retardation / Developmental Disabilities?

To foster health and advocacy for our clients

To give specialized individual preference care and attention

As healthcare professionals our compassion in dealing with mental health and developmental disabilities has spanned many years. We have also seen in real work settings that institutionalization does not afford consumers all the specialized attention, opportunity for independent community living and necessary skill acquisition as in smaller setting like ours.


What procedures will staff implement in a crisis situation? Does your agency train staff in PMAB or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention? 

Unique Manor and Rehab LLC practice zero restraint except in acute life threatenin​g emergency in which state HHSC policy must be adhered to ensure utmost Safety for individual. Staff are encouraged to receive SAMA certification​.

What screenings do you require, when staffs are hired (drug screen, criminal background check, abuse/neglect)?


We selectively hire employees to assure that qualification and training is met and maintains a diversified work environment. We screen for criminal history, background checks and employee registry checks for all barrable offenses. We do random drug screen whenever we deem it necessary on employees to assure the safety of our consumer

Tell me about the level of training, experience, and credentialing, for staff providing services to consumers.


Our  Direct care staffs have extensive years of verified experience working and directing services for people with intellectual disability and developemental delay.  Many have CNA training and SAMA classes are encouraged for direct care staff. All licensing are verified and updated within state required guidelines. Staff also have CPR certifications. We provide monthly  in-services training to update skill checks for old and new hires, and as the consumer's needs changes.

Do you have medical staff on site or on call, for medical issues? Are medical staff willing to practice/rehearse with my family member what to expect, when going to the doctor or hospital?


Yes. We have RNs and LVN that directly cares for our clients. Our Director is also a nurse with extensive years of experience caring for needy clients across age ranges. The nurses and direct care staff informs the consumer on what to expect during medical visits to nurse, clinics or hospitals. They also train and assist them to understand their medications and taking them.

We are State Certified to provide HCS, TxHML, CFC, Respite, Group homes and we are  regularly monitored and surveyed by Health and Human Services commission (HHSC)  for compliance in the program


What do you feel that you can offer these individuals that would enhance her life?

Our Goal is to help everyone to know JESUS CHRIST and meet all their desired individual goals. We offer clients community integration and involvement. We offer them growth in self esteem and Love in living in their own free environment with less restrictions. They take ownership of their own homes and belongings with less interference. We train them actively to achieve more outcomes, based on Christ like proven strategies that yield results. We ensure their rights, utmost health and safety are met
